It allows fishermen to navigate to farther locations and find places where fishing may be the best. The area on the coast had more detail than the inland area because the map was made for the waters near the coasts. The land inside the coasts was still unknown to the fishermen navigating the areas because that information was not necessary for them to know at that time.
